Mr. Fredrik Andersson is a renowned academician, who comes with extensive teaching experience. He has years of experience in Saudi Arabia, as a teacher, curriculum developer and academic consultant.

 The training program was in the form of a workshop in which the school’s 70 teachers actively participated. They formed teams among themselves to work with what they have learned, discussed actual case studies,  did creative exercise, related experiences, put forward recommendations and delivered brief lectures on the topic in reference.

 Mr. Fredrik in his presentation focused on the following points.

Mr. Fredrik made it clear that students learn by actively participating in observing, speaking, writing, listening, thinking, drawing, and doing. Learning is enhanced when a person sees potential implications, applications, and benefits to others. Learning builds on current understanding and is augmented by consistent practices and enriching experiences.

Effective teaching means creating effective learning environment and environment where students actively participate and remain engaged with the material are crucial to the learning process. Students are more likely to learn and retain if we ask them to do more than learn information. Including activities where students can explore applications and implications will improve learning.

The session opened by Mr. Yooof, the school’s academic consultant who introduced Mr. Fredrik to the participants and spoke about the need to follow the best practices in teaching that will help nurture the students’ development and gain confidence from improved learning environment. Mrs. Jasmin Rafi, Vice Principal offered vote of thanks and urged the teachers to best practise the innovative and creative techniques on the ground.

 

Talal International School’s Edu-entertainment Exhibition

The science fair held by TalalInternationalSchoolunder the title ‘TIS Vision 2012’ at the school premises in Bagdadiyah, Jeddah on the 26^th of January 2012 was truly spectacular. The fair was held with the primary objective of literally liberating the pupils’ childhood confined to the four walls of their classrooms as well as the prescribed curricula, and giving them a high level of self-confidence in their scientific knowledge and creative skills, and furthering their quest for exploration of the world around them.  

The fair was opened to the parents’ community by the school’s Chairman, Dr. Ba Hafzuallah. The Directors of the school, Mr. Manzoor Feroke, Mr. Abdul Razak Karinkallayi and Mr. Rafi Chaliyam lauded the commitment and efforts of the teachers, students and administrative and non-administrative staff who tirelessly worked hard for days together to present the exciting show.

 The fair drew a mammoth crowd of parents and science enthusiasts. The various items displayed on the ground reflected a harmonious blend of the past with the present. The solar system, planetarium, traditional as well modern irrigation systems, power generation methods, water purification systems and processes, development of computer and robotics, harmful effects of disafforestation, and global warming, sanitation and hygiene, breakthroughs in genetics and cloning, culture and heritage of Saudi Arabia and India, panoramic beauty of Kerala known as god’s own country were a few that shed enormous light of information and knowledge. These were supplemented with a variety of incredible items such as the dissolving human frame, diabolic fury, human being floating in thin air, live human being with only head, stunning magic show etc. threw lots of excitement and entertainment to the crowd that started flooding the school compound from 4 in the afternoon. The show literally transported the viewers to a different realm of knowledge and information, excitement, ecstasy and entertainment. As the management put it, the success of TIS Vision 2012 was the result of the teachers and students’ hard work, commitment coupled with co-operation and support from the ancillary staff of the school.

Talal Int’l School held its Annual Sports Day for 2011 at its sprawling compound. Both Boys Section and Girls Section held the events separately in a frolicsome environment. A spirit of festivity prevailed and the day marked with spectacular performance has been memorable.

The program of the day began with welcoming of the chief guest, Mr. Manzoor Feroke. The chief guest talked about the importance of sports and exercise in one’s life. It is necessary to keep one physically and mentally fit. Education does not mean just reading, and learning from books but doing things, keeping healthy, working with people and preparing for life. It is all education and Talal International School is proud of grooming children in the best way possible. These activities form a part of such development in a very safe and healthy environment, Mr. Manzoor added. He thanked the teachers and the students who added value to the event and made it a grand success.

At the Girls Section Mrs. Jasmin, the Vice Principal opened the event. She said Talal has added into its curriculum co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to make it rich and rewarding. A team of experienced faculty is dedicated to developing the students in these disciplines. The community is proud of their wards’ development at Talal’s hands – committed to nourishing and nurturing their children. She lauded the efforts of the teachers and the hard working students who made the program rich in every manner.

This was followed by a March Past by four houses. It was stunningly spectacular. Discipline, skill and colour synchronized with precision and order made the March Past delightfully different. The oath was taken by the Head Boy and the Head Girl in the Boys Section and Girls Section respectively. Then there came a variety of sports activities and drills – sprint race, shuttle race, obstacle race – to name a few. The talents shown on the field heralded the amazing skills of budding sportspersons – boys and girls. The creativity, practice and hard work produced thrilling sporting bonanza on the ground. The gymnastic drill by a group of boys was breathtaking. They put forth an inspiring drill – an adventurous feat from its physical display caught everyone’s attention. The pictures of various events here given tell tales of Talal’s talents and performances. Wonders are not naturally born but created at the altar and sanctity of Talal.

The events drew an exciting conclusion when the sun was slowly drifting away from the mid-sky. At the Boys Section Mr. Rafi Illikkal gave away prizes to the winners. He congratulated everyone who participated in the event and applauded those who supported and made it memorable. At the Girls Section the Vice Principal gave away prizes to winners, and consolation prizes to losers as well.

Talal International School has once again proved its unwavering commitment to developing a student community capable of meeting the formidable challenges of life.

The kindergarten kids of Talal International School had an exciting fruit party in the second week of May 2011. It was fabulous from the colorful display of fruits in nice fruit baskets and the amount of excitement that it brought to children. The party provided a wide variety of colors, taste and choice. It involved lots of decoration, refreshment and activities. For decoration streamers and balloons were used. Colorful posters of fruits were hung on the walls. The children’s different pieces of artwork were also used as decorations.

Each child was given a bowl of fresh fruits. Adding fun and joy to the occasion, the teachers provided them with a cup of fresh juice as well. It was not just an event for snacks or refreshment. It was primarily held on some simple kindergarten theme. It threw awareness on health while helped them with servings of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Children posed for snaps with their teachers. Their excitement was boundless. They sang rhymes and little songs; some of them came forward and produced dancing steps; some started painting pictures of different fruits. It was a thrilling experience for everyone who took part in the party. They sang, danced, played, and learned a lot more in an environment full of color, joy and excitement. Talal International School is an ideal place for children to learn and grow.

    Talal Int’l School celebrated The world Environment Day on June 5, 2011. The students actively participated in the program. The day began with the students taking a pledge  of planting trees wherever they can: The teachers talked about the importance of protecting the environment.

  The planet Earth is in danger. Global warming due to emission of excessive amount of CO₂ and other greenhouse gases is a threat to human life. Contamination of bodies of water such as lakes, rivers, seas is making life miserable on the earth. Deforestation is on the rise. It is the moral duty of every human being to protect the planet from destruction. Water is the elixir of life. Without water or air we cannot exist on the earth. This has been the focus of the Environment Day of the school. The student planted trees in the school premises.

              They cleaned up the litters and watered plants. They put up small boards and notices heralding the message of protecting the environment. The teachers split the students into small groups and led them to the neighborhood where they worked with the community cleaning up the lanes and shabby walkways. They demonstrated their commitment to the cause of preserving, and protecting nature. The students were appreciated by the community as well as by their teachers for their dedication to a noble cause.

The classrooms wore a very different look. Little trees decked with illuminating bulbs and fully-bloomed flowers made them very attractive. The boys in Lower Kindergarten classes wore bands of cloth around their heads. They roamed about like actors on the stage and made merry. The girls dared the little boys with fancy eye-glasses. The little pretty ones were everyone’s envy. They were singing, dancing and frolicking and the whole school joined the festivity.    

The KG teachers were among the children in their happiest week. They were not like monitors with frowns and canes, but their loving, caring adult friends. They sang with them rhymes mellifluously and danced thrilling steps with their nimble feet. They together spelt out the concept of colours and worked through their exciting lessons. The children explored their amazing world with a sense of enquiry, curiosity and excitement.

Everyone gave a smile and exhilarating winks as they were greeted with lots of fun in the bright morning days. How soon years pass by! And these young children one day face the harshness of life. They will one day take their children to classes.  Here they begin their life, their wonderful childhood at a school which for them is a beautiful garden of various hues, fragrant flowers and chirping birds. Their guiding teachers are their mothers and care-givers. Here they are free from the pangs of real life. They are in safe hands, caring hands of their loving teachers. The message to offer is very simple: Their life is secured with Talal. It is time to learn and grow thru lots of fun and excitement.

The teachers amply guided by Mrs. Jasmin, the Vice Principal of the school deserved all kudos for organizing a wonderful week that filled the children’s life with lots of happiness. Talal International School proves that it is their hope and strength.
